2024 Grace Fellowship Tulip Time Booth Shift Descriptions

Ball Roller – This is an outside spot! Grab a purple handled scoop and make a LEVEL scoop of Stroopwafel dough and place it in a baking pan…over…and over…and over again! You will need to keep an eye out to see when a griller needs a new, full pan of doughballs! This is a spot that is mostly standing in one spot, with times of walking to deliver/get supplies. Communicate your needs to the shift supervisor! This position can be done by any age! KID FRIENDLY!

Griller – This can be done inside or outside! This is a standing in one spot position. You are the LEADER of the line! You take a doughball and place it on the Stroopwafel grill! You grill them to the perfect complexion of rusty amber. Not too thick…and not to thin. You will flip them over to the slicer. Please pay attention to the rest of your line. You must find the pace that your line can handle to make the PERFECT Stroopwafel. It’s ALWAYS QUALITY over quantity. There will be times you need to stop grilling for a few moments for someone in your line to step away…it’s ok! Let the dough ball roller know when you are getting low on dough balls BEFORE you run out! This position is best suited for high school students through adults.

Slicer – This can be done inside or outside! This is a standing on one spot position. This is where the wonder of the Lord is experienced most! How could this thin little treat be easily cut in half?!?! You will need a heat resistant glove UNDER a latex glove of the hand you DO NOT write with! Stroopwafels will puff up in the middle as they are grilled. You find the sweet spot and cut it in half…and pass it on down to the syruper! If you need to step away for a few moments, please tell the griller to stop grilling! Communicate your needs to the shift supervisor! This position is best suited for a middle school student through adult.

Syruper – This can be done inside or outside! This is a standing in one spot position. Your position is VERY important! Too little syrup and you’ve ruined the Stroopwafel experience! Too much syrup is A MESS in many ways! More is NOT BETTER in this position! One LEVEL scoop of syrup onto the middle of one of the halves of Stroopwafel. Simply place the top on and pass it down to the packager. No need to push down…just plop the syrup and pass it on! Attention to detail is a must. Make sure not to randomly drip syrup all over the table with your scoop! Keep it over the bowl or lid. NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PLACE THE SCOOP IN THE BOWL full of syrup! Lay the scoop down on the lid! Communicate your needs to the shift supervisor! This position can be done by any age! KID FRIENDLY!

Packager – This can be done inside or outside! This is a spot that is mostly standing in one spot, with times of walking to deliver/get supplies and stroopwafels. The syruper is going to pass you stroopwafels. As you receive them. Gently press down to make sure the syrup Is evening distributed! Slide it down and let it set on the table to cool. After a few minutes, place in a white sleeve and make a level layer, alternating placement of stroopafels. DO NOT stack them directly on top of each other. DO NOT stack the box FULL while they are all warm. This causes the stroopwafels in the bottom of the box to get smashed and all of the syrup runs out of them! When you get a box that has enough, ask your shift supervisor where you should put it…find an empty box and keep going! Communicate with the window person and restock the window with fresh stroopwafels as needed! Communicate your needs to the shift supervisor! This position is best suited for a middle school through adult.

Looks like I owe you $$$$$! Thank you so much for coming to Tulip Time!" ONLY GIVE OUT BAGS AND NAPKINS WHEN THEY ARE REQUESTED! Don’t forget to offer condiments! Let people get their own condiments! Money belt restocking bills of 1’s, 5’s and 10’s are located in the small black box. 20’s and big bills need to be stored in the bigger, bottom black drawer. Let your shift leader know BEFORE you run out of money supplies! If it is slow (the morning shift) find something to do to keep busy. Clean, sweep, package 6 packs, etc. At times you might have a youth window runner. You will need to communicate with them on how they can be of best assistance to you! Communicate your needs to the shift supervisor. This is NOT a position to “try out to see if you like it.” This position is ONLY for QUALIFIED high school students and adults!

Extra Person/Window Runner – This is a position for high volume mealtimes. This person assists the cash window person by getting orders as needed such as corn dogs and bottled water. This position can be done by any age! KID FRIENDLY!

Corn Dog Griller – You must be able to withstand the heat! This is definitely a stand in one spot position! This is a position of repetitive action and little people interaction. It’s just you and the corn dogs. You stick the corn dog, dip it in batter, let the batter run off and QUICKLY flip it into the grease! Fry them to a dark copper color. Place them in the cooling pan on a paper towel and let set for a few minutes before wrapping! Some things to keep an eye on! Add oil as needed to keep full, otherwise the end of the corn dog won’t be fried! Batter consistency is key! As batter replacement happens, try one corn dog in the new batter and communicate with the shift leader what adjustments need to be made with the batter to get it right before getting rid of the batter you were frying with! Communicate your needs for supplies to the shift supervisor BEFORE you run out! If you get behind…it’s ok…people will have to wait. There is NOTHING you can do to make the process go ANY faster. Just keep calm and fry on! Communicate your needs to the shift supervisor. This is NOT a position to “try out to see if you like it.”  This is an ADULT ONLY position!
